Aptitude Test Master of Science in Translational Neuroscience (M.Sc.)

The Medical Faculty at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf (HHU) offers a two-year Master study programme in Translational Neuroscience (120 ECTS). The language of instruction and examination is English. The study programme starts once a year in the winter term with 20 study places.

Local admission restrictions with a selection procedure (ONC) apply. If the number of applicants exceeds the number of available study places, a selection is made on the basis of the final grade of the first study programme. If grades are the same, places on the ranking list are decided by lot. According to the "Rules for Allocation of Study Places of North Rhine-Westphalia" (Vergabeverordnung NRW) one (1) study place is allocated to suitable applicants from non-EU/EEA states (European Union, Liechtenstein, Iceland, Norway).

The entry and admission to the "Master of Science" study programme in Translational Neuroscience is conditional on completion of a university study programme in a relevant subject with a regular study duration of at least six semesters (equivalent to 180 ECTS credit points) with a final grade of 2.0 or better.

Regarded as relevant is a university study programme in a Neuroscience or a Natural Science subject (e.g. B.Sc. Neuroscience, Biology, etc.) or a similar qualification or study of Human Medicine at a German or foreign higher education institution, ín which you have acquired the following credit points in lectures as well as practical courses:

  • 4 credit points in cell and molecular biology or
  • 4 credit points in biochemistry or
  • 4 credit points in biopsychology or
  • 4 credit points in physiology and/or anatomy/neuroanatomy,
  • at least 2 credit points from practical experience should be available.

English language proficiency is requested. This proficiency should not be less than the level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Appropriate evidence is a language certificate (e.g. DAAD-language certificate level B2, a passed IELTS Test Level 6.0 or TOEFL Test PBT 500 (paper-based test), CBT 200 (computer-based test) or iBT 80 (Internet-based test), German Abiturzeugnis with English proficiency level B2 or higher, etc.. Applicants with English mother tongue are assumed to have sufficient command of English and are requested to send appropriate proofs (e.g. birth certificate, etc.).
